As a young child I learned to sail out of Groton, Connecticut with my father on his sunfish and Balboa 20.  Through the years we sailed along the shores of Connecticut, Maine, and Rhode Island.  Then later as my father moved along in his navy career I spent time sailing in Florida, Hawaii, and out on the Chesapeake.

During my times in Hawaii I was enrolled in the junior sailing program at Kaneohe Yacht Club, were I was introduced to the fun of being on the water and racing.  This led to my college sailing tenure at University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Portland State University.

In High school and during some time away from college I commercially fished out of Astoria.  On my uncles 36 footer we fished for salmon and tuna out on the ocean.  Then I had the chance also to do some Dungeness crab, dragging, and seining on large and small boats.  Did one big trip to Dutch Harbor Alaska for long lining of black cod.

Moving into my career as a mechanical engineer gave me the opportunity of campaigning a Melges 24, Cal 20, and several Lasers.  Currently I sail on several big boats out of Portland and Seattle, and run my 18 foot avon RIB in the area.  Perform as Principal Race Officer for VLSC annual regatta, CYC summer & fall series, and events out at CGRA.  As well as running the VLSC sailing school, go-sail.org, and coastguardcaptaion.com.

My resume is reflective of the events, skills, and vessels that I have experienced.
